China panel makers gearing up development of AMOLED panels
China-based BOE Technology and China Star Optoelectronics Technology (CSOT) both have been gearing up the development of AMOLED panels, according to media reports and industry sources.
BOE reportedly has successfully rolled out its first 18.5-inch HD Oxide TFT-LCD panel as well as a 4-inch WQVGA Oxide AMOLED panel recently, according to media reports in China.
Additionally, BOE has obtained a number of patents for its Oxide TFT backplane technology as well as for the production of AMOLED panels, the reports quoted the company as indicating.
Meanwhile, fellow company CSOT plans to set up a 4.5G experimental line for the production of LTPS and OLED panels, according to industry sources.
The 4.5G OLED line will be located within CSOT's 8.5G plant in Shenzhen, China with volume production slated for the end of 2012, the sources added.
