OLED shipment to pass 200 million units in 2012

UBI Research/OLEDNET published 2012 OLED annual report.

The OLED market is growing explosively. According to the report, OLED shipment in 2011, excepting China, is 130 million units. AMOLED shipment was 89.3 million units, and PMOLED shipment was 41.1 million units. AMOLED shipment increased by 109% from 2010. It is estimated that AMOLED shipment in 2012 will reach 155 million and will grow up by 70%.
Revenue wise, AMOLED in 2011 was US$ 2.8 billion and grew by 108% from 2010. In 2012, AMOLED will grow 60% to US$4.4 billion from 2011.

Although AMOLED investment is increasing by more than doubled every year, increasing shipment and revenue cannot meet investment. Because AMOLED panel size for mobile increase from 4 inch to 4.3 inch, and 4 generation 4.5 inch LTE phone market is expanding. That is why the growth rate in 2012 is lower than in 2011.

It is expected that OLED shipment in 2012 including PMOLED will pass 200 million units and AMOLED shipment for mobile in 2015 will reach 500 million units, which will has 25% of the overall mobile display market.
